STAFF ART AND CRAFT SHOW AND SALE
WILDLIFE PARK TO HOST STAFF ART EXHIBIT
-Visitors will enjoy arts and crafts created by park staff and volunteers-

HOMOSASSA - The Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection’s Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park will host a staff arts and crafts show and sale on Saturday, February 12, 2011.

The exhibit will be in the park’s main entrance and Visitor Center located on U.S. 19 in Homosassa Springs. The public is invited to come out and enjoy a variety of fine arts and crafts produced by the employees and volunteers of the wildlife park. There is no charge to visit the arts and crafts show and it is a great place to find a one of a kind, handmade craft or art work. Regular admission applies for entrance into the wildlife park.

Moon Over the Mounds
Archaeologists and Park Staff present a moon-lit tour and interpretation of the famous Crystal River Archaeological Site

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Friends of Crystal River State Parks is hosting Moon Over the Mounds. This event is scheduled for Friday:

8 to 10 pm at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park in Citrus County. (Crystal River Archaeological Site is a world-famous pre-Columbian mound complex extending along the north shore of the Crystal River. The site is one of the most imposing prehistoric ceremonial centers on Florida’s west coast.

The Moon Over the Mounds tour this season will begin at the Park Museum at 8:00 PM. Interpretive guides tell the story of the famous Crystal River Site by torchlight as guests tour though the moon-lit mound complex. Travel back with us to AD 600 when the Crystal River site was the most important ceremonial site in the region!

The park is located at 3400 North Museum Point, Crystal River just north of the Crystal River Mall. Drive North on U.S. 19 and turn left onto State Park Street(approximately ¼ mile past the Crystal River Mall – just past Denny’s / Days Inn). Continue on State Park Street approximately one mile, make a left on North Museum Point and take it all the way to the end.
